I first started to really take notice of Squidoo when my Squidoo lens displaced my blog from the number one position on Google for its keyword. The blog was 2 years old and had held the number one position for at least twelve months; the Squidoo lens was about six weeks old.

However, I very quickly discovered that it is not a case of "Squidoo or blogging" but rather "Squidoo and blogging and..."

My affiliate marketing strategy now is to use Squidoo as the hub of a marketing wheel with the spokes being other marketing strategies such as blogging, article marketing, Twitter, social bookmarking and Facebook.

Why use Squidoo as your marketing hub? There are seven (7) good reasons:

1. You can incorporate the RSS feed from your blog into your Squidoo lenses so that when you update your blog, your relevant lenses get updated.

2. Squidoo lenses can accommodate the RSS feed from your articles in article directories or the feed from other writers' articles.

1. Trying too hard to sell.

Many people who try to market affiliate products on forums go about it all wrong. Marketing their product is all they do, and they aren't the least bit discreet about it. They may post all over the forum telling people to check their product out. They may try to squeeze a mention into every conversation, whether relevant or not.

They think of their efforts there as entirely to market a product. Not to become a trusted resource.

2 . Ignoring forum rules.

Working too hard to sell is just one way people can ignore forum rules. It's the big one, though.

However many forums won't allow you to advertise a business in your signature, or may require that you pay for the privilege. They may not allow affiliate links within posts, even when the product is perfectly relevant.

3. Signature line isn't compelling.

Some people do better at participating in the forum, but still fail to do well as marketers on forums. Some will put just their affiliate URL in their signature. Sure, that gives a link to click, but what is it?

Or, if the link is followed or preceded by a description, the words aren't the least bit compelling. Most forums allow you to use BB Code, which allows you to link to your site through your words, which looks much better.

4. Too irrelevant.

You're not going to do that well marketing pet supplies on a crime forum. Sure there will be some pet owners, but that's not what people there are looking for. Try to have some relevance in your signature to what people are talking about. It doesn't have to be perfect, though.

5. Too relevant.

Too close a match can be a problem as well. You don't want to be offering something that pretty much everyone in the forum already has. Try to come up with a product that will intrigue the people who read your signature.

6. Too many links.

Most forums have limits on the number of characters you have in your signature. Some limit the number of links you may include.

Both of these things are good for you.

People aren't generally going to read a really long signature line. They also may ignore excessive links within your signature. Keep the number of links down and be sure your signature is easy to read.

7. Never, ever changing your signature.

Remember, even if a forum has thousands of active members, after a time just about everyone interested in your current signature has seen it. Changing things up, even if you're still offering the same product, can bring in fresh customers.

8. Fail to test your signature links.

Test. That's right, test, test, test. And test again. Then change things up regularly.

Forum marketing is just like any other kind of marketing. An ad may be pulling well and then suddenly quit working.

But beyond that, make sure your links actually work. It's amazing how often forum signature links just don't work because you didn't get it quite right. Strange things sometimes happen between typing your signature and hitting the Submit button.

Survey and opinion sites are also good ways for teenagers to make money online. These sites have you take multiple surveys and they pay you for every one you complete. The problem I have with these is that they promise $5 to $75 a survey. That does not happen... You have to join multiple survey sites and take tons of surveys to make any money at all. Survey sites are an option for sure but I believe there are better ways for teenagers to make money online.

Tired of joining affiliate programs, then working long hours to set up full blown ad campaigns for them and bringing in new members, just to find out the site is no longer there?

I am sure, just like me, this has happened more than once to you. Nothing is more frustrating when you are working on-line as an affiliate marketer.

Unfortunately it is a fact of Internet Marketing, we have to except. Programs can go down nearly as fast as they are put up.

What can be done about it? While it may be out of our hands to stop the owners from shutting down, there are a few things you can do to soften the blow when it does happen.

1. To begin with... research what you join. Find out how long they have been in business. If new, try to find out how many members it has. Are they filling up quickly? This could mean they have a quality product, worth selling. Decide if what they are selling has staying power. Contact support and make sure that they can be reached easily and do reply to you. Just to name a few ideas. Many factors can decide whether a program, new or established, will make it or not. A tough call to make. But at least consider a few things about the program before putting too much effort or expense in going full force with advertising it.

2. Then most importantly, after you decide on what programs to advertise, use cloaking or tracking links so that you can change your active promotions to a different affiliate program URL.

What do I mean by making money doing what you are already doing? I mean driving a car, reading emails, visiting websites, going out to eat, and shopping. They are what you do in your life regularly right? Let me guess, with no pay. I know you’re very confused right now. I’ve been there, however it is so true. You may already know what I am talking about. The only word I can describe about this new making money source is “Amazing”

So far, I have tried get paid to read emails, get paid to do surveys, get paid to visit websites and get paid to shop. However,there are whole lot more that you can choose from, like get paid to drive a car, get paid to give out products and free samples. I’ll tell you about what I think about each revenue sources based on my results and experience.

Get paid to read emails, sounds fantastic! It is the first thing I tried out of all those “get paid to do” things. I signed up with about 17 different companies and guess what? I was not very satisfied with my experience. Most of the companies I signed up with paid anywhere 2cents to 10cents. I had to read average of 13 emails to get paid a dollar(hard work..) After 2 days later, I quit. It just wasn’t worth my time. Plus, you have to wait 30sec or more each email confirmation link to confirm which was very very annoying. I am very impatient. I just couldn’t do it.

Get paid to do surveys was very nice. Most companies I signed up with paid $5 - $100. Sounds nice, but there are few obstacles. Most surveys will ask to sign up with their free trials or buy something from them, which means you have to give them your credit card information. If you do not cancel the free trial membership or subscriptions, they will automatically charge you for that. If you’re organized and patient enough to call every company and cancel your membership, I say this is perfect for you. You will make a good amount of money doing this. Not me, I am too lazy.

Get paid to shop and eat. This is the revenue source that I chose to do. What you do is you become a undercover-agent customer and rate stores. For example, if you were to eat at Chilli’s and rate the store, you go to the store and rate the customer services, food, store environments and stuff. Pretty simple, right? Last time, I did this I got paid $40 to eat at this nice restaurant. The meal cost me about $35. I still had $5 after eating nice food for free. I thought that this is so much better than reading emails and doing surveys. So I decided to keep doing it and here I am.

I guess it all depends on what you like, your characteristics and your time. Based on my experience and results, I thought getting paid to shop and eat was the best choice.
